Convention Rules

As all of you who read already know we have, in the next two weeks, the Democrat (August 25th-28th) and Republican September 1st-4th) National Conventions. So before we get to that futility, I figgered I'd throw down the format and ground rules, because it's going to be a little busy for comment wars. So let's begin.

First of all, here's the schedule for posts for each convention:
  • Monday: Convention highlights, as assembled my me. Any additional info would be appreciated, especially if it's funny.
  • Tuesday-Thursday: quick recaps of speeches, events, red meat counter, and humorous snide comments. Observations and additional info would be appreciated.
  • Friday: The big-assed recap of the candidate's speech. If you have anything to weigh in on, this is the post on which to do so.
Now, here's the ground rules on comments. For the sake of brevity, I will be enabling comment moderation for those weeks. Comments that really do not have a place will be copied, deleted from the post, then posted over the weekend following the Republican Convention. So whatever you write, it will appear. It just may not appear on the post you originally comment on. To qualify:
  • Monday: It needs to be funny, or at least an attempt at good humor. The next 4 days can be more substantive. This ain't the day for that.
  • Tuesday-Thursday: We're looking for short comments, info I might have missed. I'm going to avoid long policy discussion on those days. We'll get to that afterward.
  • Friday: We're analyzing the speech, the whole speech, and nothing but the speech. 'Nuff said.
Now why am I instituting these rules for the conventions? Simple answer. There's a lot of shit to cover, and many people who post seem to have need of a dictionary to look up two words: brevity and relevance. You know who you are. So I'm going to exercise my editorial prerogative and manage this whole thing. So if you have any questions on format prior to the convention extravaganza, go ahead and drop me an email: patrickmspeaks@gmail.com.

I am neither brief nor relevant and therefore withdraw myself from this discussion.

:)

I guess I'll have to withdraw, too. :-(

I thought this blog could be free-wheeling democracy in action.

But apparently the Bush administration has gotten to you, too, PM. It controls everything.

I invite posters to come to my blog and write whatever you wish and write it as long as you wish.

F.R.E.E.D.O.M.

Monday evening, my Freedom and Liberty loving brethren and I (vis a vis the MN Sons of Liberty) will be hosting an event in Blaine, MN from 5:30-7:30pm to kick off the GOP Convention and the Rally for the Republic (Rally for the Republic is a noon-10:00pm event the following Tuesday at the Target Center (http://www.targetcenter.com/default.asp?targetcenter=87&objId=496).

Our keynote speaker for the Blaine event will be Ron Paul.

If you'd like Patrick, I'll shoot you some notes on how that turns out as well as the Rally for the Republic Event.

Saty, Shaw: It's a 2-week cap just so the coverage can be concise. If it's relevant or interesting, it will stay. If it meanders too far from topic, it will NOT be deleted, just relocated.

And the Bush administration does not control this blog.

But I do encourage anyone who wants to go visit Shaw. :)

Soap-On-A-Rope: Feel free to send me anything you have. I'm sure I'll find some place for it. Mayby I'll repost it all on Shaw's blog. Reams of it!

Okay. My bad. I'll pop in and see if I can add anything of merit. But I've got relatives, including a 4-year old visiting that week, and not much spare time.

Later.

Shaw: You do that. The hat pics alone will be a hoot.
