Complaints about Fox News

I was working on my guest post for Conservative Convictions tonight, so I don't have a whole lot left. I did have Fox News playing as usual, as it sometimes gives me the spark for something else.

What it did tonight was annoy me. So I'm going to share the things that annoy me.

Huck-a-Duck - Mike Huckabee. Why they have this half-ass on every night (tonight it was Greta's show, last night, Hannity and Colmes, O'Reilly another night). I turn that shit off the moment I see his dumb ass on the air. And it's gotten worse since he wrote another book to cash in on that. I can't even got the the FairTax site without seeing him. And they gave the asshat his own show....

(Hang on, Huck-a-duck is on the fucking screen again. *click* Seriously.)

Annoying Christian Commercials - You get craptastically bad commercials on every cable network. And don't get me started on the erection drugs (like Cialis - 24 hours to sit naked in separate tubs instead of boning. WTF?). But Fox New, because the Christians obviously don't like CNN and loath all to Hell the pseudo-news network of MSNBC, runs an assload of commercials for Christian products. If they were good things it wouldn't bother me. But tonight I got to hear about a cross with the Our Father slapped on it. I tuned out pretty quick. God is a personal thing with me, not a reason for merchandising. And with it being the Christmas season, I chave to listen to the Christy Lane commercials. Think of Barbara Streisan on Valium, converted to fundamentalist Christianity, then dropped into a meat grinder feet first with a microphone, and you can imagine how bad it really is.

Of course, I won't even talk about the Obama commemorative plates. Yeah, there was a commercial for that shit too. And no, Shaw, I don't have the website handy.

Fox and Friends - I watched this regularly back in 200 and 2001. It was quirky, it was fun, it was more interesting than all the others morning shows combined. Then 9/11 happened. They lost something. Not ED Hill, because she was there for a few years (although she's moved on). Not Brian Kilmeade, because he's there as the straight man and sports guy. And not Steve Doocy, he's still the idiotic dork (and he does it well). I'm not sure, but it's just depressing to not get a kick out of the show anymore. Maybe they'll get it back someday.

The Weekend Shows - They must stick people here when they can't find them anything better to do. They tried a comedy news show. It tanked. They tried Geraldo. He sucks. Hannity showed up. Like his radio show, but annoying. And then there's the ass cancer of the GOP, Huck-a-duck. So I find something else to watch until Monday.

But hey, what else am I going to watch? Plus, they pissed off liberals by not sucking off Barack Obama during the campaign. They were just as hard on him as they were on Assface, I mean McCain, I mean Assface.

So with the choices out there, I think I can get through the annoying. And I can always turn off Huck-a-Duck.

(Ok, I admit I wrote this so I could just rip Huckabee some more.)

Disconnect the cable. Disconnect the satellite dish.

Leave the VCR and/or DVD hooked up.

Read a book. Watch theatrical films, documentaries, Sopranos, Deadwood & The Office (original w/ Ricky Gervais).

You'll feel better.

Huckabee may be a nice guy, but he does NOT follow conservative principles. I am not supporting any more RINO'S

Arthur: I have the radio on most of the morning and afternoon, so the TV is there. But if I pop the cable, I'd have to listen to radio in the late night. That means Michael Savage.

You really want to go there?

Plus, then I'd lose Discovery, History, A&E, TLC and National Geographic channels. I need to feed my head.

Trexpress: Welcome. Also, if you remember, Huck-a-duck did his best back in the primaries to pull votes from Romney, thus enabling Assface McCain. When you have a field full of shaky, barely conservative candidates (Romney), fake conservatives (Mr go Huck yourself) and one uber-RINO (McCain), you get the drizzling shit that was this election.

I haven't forgiven him for this.

The ubiquitous nature with which they have Huckabee on FOX News just goes to prove my point that the ilk over at FOX News are by and large these Rockefeller Republican/Big Government Conservatives (what a fucking misnomer that is).

Shit you can throw Hannity, Dick Morris and William Kristol in with them as well.

Boy you paint with a pretty broad brush don't you.
Why not throw out deranged people like Ron Paul,Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin and Ralph Nader as well?

Patrick, tell us how you really feel brother...

Here is your plate and collectable link...

Soapbox, Kristol is no Rockefeller Republican. As one of the fathers of the neocons, there is nowhere in his belief system for the views of the Rocky set.

And I don't think Hannity passes muster on that count either.

Patrick M said...

Soapster: Did Hannity (being the biggest name) do what he could to get McCain nominated?

Huck-a-duck did....

Dave: That's what's left after I write a good post (for CC) and am half a paragraph from just phoning it in.

The plate is bad enough. The commercial was designed for people suffering from OES.

(That's Obama Elation Syndrome - a curious effect that involves a tingling feeling running down your leg. Like when you get a cute puppy and it pisses on you. But it's cute doing so. So you go out and buy new pants. And your junk is snug again. And all is right with the world, 'cause Barry's giving government hand jobs.)

By reading some other posts from Soapster I doubt that he wanted to get McCain elected either.

"Why not throw out deranged people like Ron Paul,Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin and Ralph Nader as well?"

With respect to Ron Paul, if by deranged you mean dead on the mark with respect to monetary policy and how the Federal Reserve's abuse of their authority has led to the economic demise upon us then yes.

You'd also do well to take into account that Ron Paul raised more money from military personel any of the other Republican candidates who ran including more than McCain and Romney combined.

I guess what I was infering with mentioning those in the above post is that they are "party" men. They have no fidelity to any sort of ideal or principle.

And while maybe Hannity didn't champion for McCain or aid in his nomination to the degree that Huckabee did, he is I said a party man. He's a GOP cheerleader; a tribalist if you will as opposed to a man who employs his standard by association. He couldn't have cared less who the nominee was as was clearly evident as he shifted with the winds (from Rudy, to Huck, to whomever...).

"By reading some other posts from Soapster I doubt that he wanted to get McCain elected either."

Indeed such was not my cause.

I should probably have mentioned that I had the opportunity to actually meet both Ron Paul and Bob Barr. Ron Paul was the keynote speaker at an event that I and my MN Sons of Liberty brethren hosted. Say what you will about the man but honestly, when you get down to legitimate Constitutional government and public policy debate, this man is without question one of the most noble statesmen serving. Listening to him speak at the Rally for the Republic was inspirational to say the least.

Bob Barr I did meet at a picnic out here in Minnesota during the Rally for the Republic and Convention weekend. Not nearly as solid on issues as Paul I'll give you that.

Listening to Michael Savage is never a good idea Patrick.

But I understand the attraction.

Did I mention turning off the radio is as good an idea as turning off the television?

This too is interesting:

Soapster: Did Hannity (being the biggest name) do what he could to get McCain nominated?

One of the more telling questions I've read yet about the role of Fox 'News' "journalist/commentators" in their employ. No beating around the bush (sorry) about that question.

This one is even better:

'And while maybe Hannity didn't champion for McCain or aid in his nomination to the degree that Huckabee did, he is I said a party man. He's a GOP cheerleader; a tribalist if you will...'

Most thoughtful people have long considered Fox News the department of propaganda for the GOP. Turns out their audience does as well.

Surprise.

Patrick, the reason Fox News doesn't "work" anymore is because the "magic" is gone...

By "magic" I mean that there is no longer any thrill in pimping the war, pimping the direction of the country, pimping "OUR PRESIDENT" and so on and so forth.

The war is over, the economy tanks, and the "OUR PRESIDENT" is focussed on moving to Dallas once this election is over.

Until Fox News can tell you that your job is secure and you are in for a big payraise, and all of that....well, the rest really doesn't matter, and no one really wants to hear all that chest thumping...

To help their ratings they need to give Dick Morris his own show where for props he has those black hookers in leather on.....the ones he gets caught in hotel rooms with.

All the cable shows are having problems...Fox has Huckabee, CNN has J.D. Hurley, and Comedy Central has "Chocolate News" and all of them are really "great" programs.

Its Christmas...show some charity to Huckabee....

Poor guy, that show will ruin whatever future he has in politics

Trexpress: I myself was at best a reluctant supporter of McCain (only because of Sarah Palin). Prior to that, I was ready to let America put the gun in its collective mouth and try to clean up the mess.

Soapster: As much as Ron Paul has been right in many respects, he is a little on the Kookville Express. He also came off so bitter in the early debates that he lost any chance whatsoever of me supporting him for president. What we really need is an actual leader with the ideas and principals of Ron Paul.

Arthur: Savage usually gets turned off before he begins. I look to people with ideas and answers, not the "angry as fuck" crowd that is the Savage Nation.

Most thoughtful people have long considered Fox News the department of propaganda for the GOP.

The stats don't bear that one out. I'd look them up, but the nutshell is that Fox was even on coverage between McCain and Obama.

Tao: I said Fox and Friends doesn't work, or has lost it's magic. Not the whole network.

And I wouldn't call the items you list "pimping." The Natalee Holloway case was pimped and worn to death.

And I think you've been on more moonbat sites than Arthur. And that's saying something.

Poor guy, that show will ruin whatever future [Huckabee] has in politics

GOOD!

Funny.

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=media-bias-presidential-election

And let's not forget the two words underscoring this bias:

Roger Ailes.

I didn't think he was kookville. I just had difficulty with him because he focused far too much on the war and empire building. I'd have liked to hear him go after entitlements with the same furvor. And, I actually told him as much. And, in hindsight he tended to agree up to a point.

You want kookville, take a gander at Dennis Kucinich. Now there's a flippin' nutjob.

Patrick M said...

Arthur: Fine, make me look up the study so you don't have to take my word for it:

www.journalism.org

Soapbox: That's the same thing that drove me away, and kept me from supporting Bob Barr, and kept the Libertarian party on the kook fringe again.

As for Kucinich, he's a byproduct of Cleveland (the hemorrhoid on the ass of Ohio, politically). Which really makes me pity poor Beth (who has that kookaholic as her rep). Although I do give him credit for voting against the DBB (although for the absolutely wrong reasons).

I don't watch FOX, so I know nothing about it or the people who appear on that cable station.

MSNBC: I do like Rachel Maddow--brainy, good looking. Keith, a bit over the top. That's it for MSNBC. CNN, I watch off and on, not much.

PBS, yes.

But mostly I listen to radio--NPR.

And to keep my sanity--I play my DVDs. Among my prized collections is the complete works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart--including his incidental music and divertimenti. Heavenly. Just heavenly.

Around Dec. 22, 23, I like to listen to some Christmas music--Panis Angelicus--gorgeous.

Movies? Yes. Classics (anything with Audrey Hepburn, Carey Grant, Peter O'Toole, Spencer Tracey). Most new movies are crap. But I am going to see "Doubt" as soon as it gets to my local theater.

Have I wandered off the subject?

Huckabee? Oh yeah. He comes across as a genial fellow and much, much easier to take than that woman who needed $150,000 worth of clothes and $110,000 worth of make-up to make her look good. What's up with that? I thought her natural "charms" precluded all that moolah to tart her up.

PS. Republican men went for her more than Republican women--the Rep. women liked Huckabee better.

Republican men apparently fantasized over a mother of 5 and soon to be granny who needed $$$$$$ in clothes and make-up to glamorize her and fulfill their sad, sad sex lives.

I'm outta here before Patrick throws his Sarah Palin Comemorative Hockey Mom plate at me.

Patrick M said...

Saty: Not unless you've had the sense to block MSNBC - where the Barack ball-polishing continues....

If you doubt, click the link I left above for Arthur to deny (because he will).

Trexpress: Not necessarily. Some of them had good ideas. Others were Ralph Nader. But when you have two Democrats running (and yes, I'm talking about McCain), there's bound to be interest in ideas outside the grow-government goofs (Bush/Obama/McCain).

Shaw: MSNBC (Must Suck Now Barack's Cock)?

I refer you to that link above as well.

As for NPR (No place for Republicans), it is self explanatory.

The fact that you seem to like the Huckhead (and despise Sarah) only confirms who should be making a run in 2012 and who should be thrown over to MSNBC so I don't have to look at him guest annoying every damn night.

--the Rep. women liked Huckabee better.

Which proves those women lack judgment. Or any sense of conservative values.

And I'm not going to throw the plate (as I haven't even heard of one yet). I'm going to get conservative women who despise Huck-a-duck after you.

I'm hoping for a full on bitch fight. Complete with hair pulling, clothes tearing, and a YouTube vid I can post. :)

BTW, Shaw, just added Panis to the playlist -- Pavarotti style to be specific.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Panis Angelicus by Pavarotti is sublime. I heard him sing it with his father, who was a very good singer, in a PBS special on Pavarotti.

I'll enjoy hearing it. Thanks.

I've seen the study Patrick. Perhaps the key finding (much more important than who was viewed more positively) was so many found the coverage lousy. Focused far too much on the horse race and less on the candidates stand on the issues.

But that's beside the point. You did a neat little dodge there to the suggestion made. A statistical study claiming to prove how hard Fox was on McCain during the recent campaign is not what we were discussing.

And that is this election notwithstanding Fox News is an arm of the Republican party. Roger Ailes runs it that way.

Cheers!

Shaw: Thanks.

I think.

Arthur: You've got to make those links clickable. Then I don't have to wear myself out with the extra 5 seconds it takes to cut and paste (cuts into the porn time).

As for the coverage, it's across the board less than adequate for simple business reasons.

And I suspect your issues with Fox News comes from the fact that they know they have a larger percentage of conservative viewers than CNN (the news for Democrats) and the abortion known as MSNBC, and they select the stories they cover based on that (as opposed to every other network that hand jobs the Dems). However, they have been fairly balanced in their coverage, making sure both sides are covered on an issue.

Other than that, you haven't made any new point, because they were roughly equal in coverage for both candidates when it mattered.

Trexpress: Next you're going to say McCain was a good conservative Republican candidate. Then I'm going to ask for your address so I can send you soap to wash your mouth out for uttering such an obscenity. :)

Just because someone may fall into the "kook" category doesn't mean every utterance is crazy. In fact, the people who have no chance to win don't have to play the appeaser, so you might find something worthwhile.

In other words, look at the ideas apart from the person uttering them sometimes.

TP: You have no idea....

BTW, the cheers thing makes you sound like Arthur. I'll let you take that any way you want. :)

Why on earth would winners need to be rehabbed?

Wait. Wait. I remember. You guys create your own reality. So facts mean nothing, just your unsupported ideas of what the American people think of the Republican party.

HINT: Look who the next president of the United States will be come January 20. He isn't a Republican.

The American people just said "NO!" to Republicans.

There you go again. Confusing conservatives and Republicans.

But Mike's got a new friend bugging him and is wondering if I will take him and rehab him like I did you (and Toad, and Arthur).

It did give me an idea for another post, though....

LOL. Not quite, but if that was the case, most every Republican should have lost this year. The conservative ones (and the usual mix of incumbents) didn't.

TAO said...

I just love it....

When republicans win then conservatives are all loyal and supportive...they are THEIR guys!

When republicans are invading other countries and giving us "shock and awe" on prime time then conservatives are beside themselves with joy...

When republicans lose elections then they spend alot of time explaining that conservatives are NOT republicans...

One thing about conservatives....some of them run and support the democrat when they see the republican is losing, some claim to vote for the republican but he is not their candidate or they are voting holding their noses...

Patrick, have you noticed this trend among conservatives too? :)

In 2000 they loved Bush...in 2004 they supported the war president...and in 2008....they are not republicans.

Patrick M said...

Tao: I can't speak for every Republican out there. I can tell you that I've had my political philosophy change and develop over the last 8 years.

As for this year, I think I've explained my vote for McCain clearly enough.

As for supporting Bush in 2004 and anger with him in 2008... That will be made clear in my post I'll be titling "The Legacy of George W Bush", which is in the works.
