For Which I am Thankful, Redux

I've managed to generate enough posts now that I can go back to prior years and reprint all my old shit. And since I didn't really have any readers outside my immediate family and friends, it would all look new and shiny if I didn't have the need to be bluntly honest. But I'm going to edit, revise, extend, and do all the other stuff that makes me just age like a fine wine, other than Boone's Strawberry Hill, which actually was a part of the first turkey I ever roasted. But that's another story....

First of all, I am thankful for my two children. All hopes and dreams I once had I give to them, for my true legacy will only be known through them. They have grown so much in the short time I've been blogging that I'm still amazed daily. I am thankful for my family. They are responsible (like it or not) for the person I now am. However, beating them for making me me is not going to change anything other than to make me more nuts, so....

I am thankful for the friends I have had over the years, especially those who have added something to my life. What my family began, they finished doing. But I have discovered many things I love to do thanks to them. And while most of them have gone on to other things in other places, I'll be here when they come a-lookin'.

I am thankful for those who have taught me how to think. The list goes on, from parents, to friends, to teachers, to pundits and politicos and pompous talkers who have fired out countless ideas on the radio and television, many of those I now claim as part of my philosophy. They are the reason you get to read this shit.

And I am most certainly thankful for the bloggers who have endured my snide or humorous (depending on who you are) comments and have forced me, with the vehemence, passion and logic of their blogs, as well as their challenging comments here, to further my thoughts to levels that Obamatons only have believed could be achieved by the messiah-elect. That's the point of my blogroll, which has gained (mostly) and lost (rarely) people over the past year. So check them out, no matter how looney. And looney they can be sometimes, although that's coming from me.

I am thankful to my country for giving me the right to be me. I am thankful for the soldiers, past, present, and future, who fight and die for all of us. I am thankful to God, who in His wisdom (and obviously perverse sense of humor) created all that we now enjoy and gave me the strength and wisdom to make my greatness (and humility) grow.

Finally, I am thankful to all of you who take a few minutes to read, and in some cases digest, the nuggets of wisdom that slip out while I am blathering on somewhat incoherently between tech calls and children and annoying other bloggers with logic and Star Wars references. Our freedom of speech works best when people want to listen in, and then join the conversation.

So that's it for the thanks.

I do have a couple of housekeeping things to cover. I'll be updating the blog layout (including the Christmas music while at work on Thanksgiving day. So mute your speakers if you don't want to hear it until Friday. Also, I'm kind of runniong out of steam, unless you want me to talk about the bailout bonanza (although the resulting post would simply be a repetition of the f-word in all its joyous forms).

Also, in the spirit of planning ahead for Christmas, I'm trying to decide on presents for politicians that will lead us (for a future post?). I was going to get Barack Obama a clue, but I think W's going to give that to him. I won't say what I have in mind for Sarah Palin so as not to offend anyone (although Cher wore it on a battleship once). For Joe Biden, I have toast. To go with the toe jam. That he has every time he puts his foot in his mouth. Hillary, I think could use a bullet proof vest. Especially as Secretary of State, flying into countries and having to dodge snipper fire.

This year our family will commence the gorging on Saturday. Then I'll have to cook my own turkey. I'm not going to turn down any meat under $1/lb. Wonder if I could get some polar bear cheap?

Time to post this and sleep now.

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

There is so much to be thankful far that it would be impossible to list it all...

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

I am heading to my wife's folks to let them cook and clean (yay!). They are filipino, so there will be traditional American as well as lumpia, pansit, and pandesal. Then I have guests for the weekend, so I am smoking 4 racks of spareribs. I can hear myself gaining weight...

I'll post the recipe on my BBQ blog.

Enjoy your weekend Patrick. I am with you on the price of a turkey. Under a buck. We bought extra this year.

Great list you have there. I am thankful for you in return!

Among a lengthy list of things for which I'm grateful (health, business, family, friends, etc.) I'm particularly grateful to see the end of GWB's absurd eight year reign.

Sadly the detritus will linger for a long, long time.

Cheers.

Everyone, thanks.

Bullfrog, just send a rack here.

Arthur, you certainly need a hug if you're using the thanks part to get another shot off.

Napqueen: You will not start a personal war on my blog. I'll reprint your comment, except for the last line, though, because you were fine until then.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving Day. We have so much to be grateful for. For starters, as Americans we live better that 90% of the world. Sure, the world’s economy is in a slowdown. But, think about how much better off we are than that 90% of the world’s population.
Now that we just won an election and hopefully have started on a path to end the War in Iraq. I am thankful for that.

Napqueen, that's bullshit and you know it. And I won't have it, especially when the post is not about that at all.

But have a happy one nonetheless, and remember that the upcoming season should bring out the best in us all.

Hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving Patrick. You might want to head over to CC if you get the chance, you'll understand why when you get there. Loved the holiday music!

Excellent holiday music choices, Patrick!

And I am thankful for the new music hookup but how come it quits when we go to comment? Can't you make the comment section open in a new window like those haloscan people do?

Dave: Done.

I want to thank each of you people for your hard work and dedication to our Republican party.
We didn't win this time around but theres always a next time.
As for the Republicans that thought it would be better to sit at home and teach the party a lesson. Well, your plan worked. We were taught if we sit at home and don't vote, we lose.
So congrats to you.

Why does this guy Robert spam everybodys blog?

I guess it's just to get HIS link on every blog.

Walt: Welcome. Strangely, you don't seem to thankful....

Rocketman: Welcome as well. Considering I visited Robert first, he came back to visit me.

That's how it works. Had you left a link to wherever you live on the blogosphere, I might have visited you. As it is....
