Too Many Things For an Extended Rant

Okay, lots to cover, and I don't want to bore you.

Operation (Enduring) Chaos - Senator Hillary Clinton mercilessly crushed Senator Barack Obama in the Kentucky Primary, with a 35-point victory. Meanwhile, Obama picked up a win in Oregon, winning with a lead of 58-42 at last check (66% in). The numbers were what was expected. And it points to many things. First of all, this sure as shitpuppies is going to the convention, unless the stupidelegates decide to throw behind one of them and end the insanity. And as fractured as the party is, I can't see that happen any time soon.

I do have to make a confession - I have said in the past, I think Hillary would be the better of the two candidates. Now, I have almost *shudder* come to respect Hillary, as she has become much more of a statesman in the last month. I can respect that.

New Terminology - John McCAin is not a RINO. After thinking about it, I've decided he's really a DIRC: Democrat In Republican Clothes! Maybe the Governator, Arnold Schwarzeneggar is too. I wouldn't call Arnold that to his face though.

American Idol Sucks!!! - Other bloggers, who shall remain nameless, have been going on about this too much. But it's almost over. I don't really care, but I wanted to be a little bit of an asshole. It is my blog, after all.

Senator Edward Kennedy - Today, a Democrat and liberal legend was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Life expectancy is somewhere between 6 months and 5 years. No matter how long, though, it will be the end of the Kennedy era. I have never been a fan of the senator, and have made him the butt of many a joke. But I will join with all Americans in hope and prayer for the best for the Kennedy family in this time. The best post on my reading list about this is over on Mike's America.

Pissing on the Dead - When I heard the news about Senator Kennedy's tumor, I began checking out various blogs to see if anybody was bashing him on a day when he was not the despised senator from Massachusetts, bane of conservatives, and the least of the Kennedys, but a man facing his own mortality. I was pleased to see that the vitriol and bile usually unleashed the moment Kennedy opened his mouth was restrained, that the bloggers I read set politics aside and embraced him as good people do. All I can say to any wingnuts who waste webspace making jokes at the senator's expense in this time should look into the blackened remnants of their souls, then swallow poison. That's something that moonbats do, not decent people. Politics is unimportant when we face such things, and all people, whether political allies or enemies should be accorded such respect.

And on that note, here's an exchange on the death of Charleton Heston that makes my point. Any questions?

Again, Cold dead hands are his words not mine. I never said I was glad he was dead nor did I cheer his death. I simply said that we will finally be able to get that gun that he has been famously grasping to for the last several years.

And again, there is a big difference in what Kennedy stood for and what Heston stood for. Sure its possible Kennedy may have one indirect death on his hands but how many does Heston have? How many laws and politicians did he influence to put big, powerful guns in the hands of teenagers who killed 8 year olds on swing sets? You can say he was a guy who fought for constitutional rights and I would say the same about Kennedy but I can say he's a guy who is responsible for the United States leading the western world in gun deaths. That being said, I'm not going to lose much sleep over his death and 30,000 deaths per year warrants a little jab here and there.

I mean, if Bush died today I would be deeply saddened...mainly because Cheney would be in power.

Toad: I thought you'd say that. You make my points for me and reveal your insanity to everybody you argue with. So let's put all political bullshit aside here, and look deeper.

John, either intentionally or out of a blindness born of rage, you miss the point I've tried to make. Why do you seek to score points on someone who is sick or dying? I could be making similar points, but it comes down to the basic respect for other people who I simply disagree with, not someone who has actively tried to harm me. Answer the following questions offline and try to see what kind of person you are.

First, what does it say about you as a person (as opposed to a blogger) that you want to start shit over someone's personal tragedy? Second, if it were your brother facing death and you shared this on your blog, and some asshole came along and told you it was God's will that your brother die for his iniquity or something, would that be in any way justifiable? Finally, what is more important, scoring points in a petty argument over a political issue, or respecting an individual or family facing a personal tragedy?

Think about it.

Ok, I have sat at my brother’s side on a few occasions not knowing if he was going to come out of his coma. I have received calls at 3am telling me I need to get home because my brother may not be alive when I get there; I have packed funeral clothes to take with me on those trips. But if he did die and some asshole said "I'll bet he never does heroin again" I could call them a cold asshole but I wouldn't say he was wrong or that my brother was somehow immune to his deeds because he is either dead or dying. Thousands of people die every day. Many of my friends have died many more of my brothers friends have died. So ya, maybe I'm a little more desensitized to death than most people (in this country) but I can't get upset every time someone in some corner of the globe gets a tumor or dies or whatever. Sure it sucks, I hope they have family around them, if I could flip a switch and make them better I would. Just because someone is famous, you have to grieve for them?? That's bullshit. There are probably 10,000 kids in Myanmar who will die before the end of the month, I am far more concerned about that than I am Charlton Heston who made a living protecting peoples rights to shoot kids or over even over Ted Kennedy. My best friend’s father died a year ago next month. He is the person I need to be sensitive to, hes the one who needs my support and comfort, not some millionaire in Beverly Hills.

And again, no one mourned Saddam Hussein or Adolph Hitler...Well that's not true, I am sure some people did, even as evil as they were. I am not equating Heston to one of those guys but he certainly didn't help this world by holding gun rallies in places like Littleton and Flint after tragic events involving his guns occurred. Do we need someone on this planet who rubs their faces in it? What you are calling me out for is exactly what Charlton Heston made a name for himself doing, disrespecting the dead. So, did I want him dead, of course not, did I wish death on him, of course not but am I going to cry any tears for someone who pisses on the grave of dead children, absolutely not. And again, saying "I guess they finally got the gun out of his cold dead hands" is just as much of a statement as his "cold dead hands" statement.

I never said you had to grieve for everyone who died, just respect those who do at that time. That's the point.

OK, I've deleted you because you don't seem to have any respect for people who are grieving and no one needs to hear more of your shit. If you want to continue on this, bring it off the blog an email me on it.

The difference between conservatives and liberals is when Elisabeth Edwards got diagnosed with cancer we were sympathetic, right after that Tony Snow did and the liberal blogs erupted with some of the most hateful stuff ever. Tony Snow is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet but because he's a conservative liberals thought he deserved to have cancer and die, its shameless.

I have yet to address the Kennedy situation because its one of those things where if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

And that's why I started deleting Toad's comments.
