Final 2008 Post (For Lack of Better Title)

As I said I would when last I posted, here's some pics from our Christmas. A good time was had by all, and as youy can see, they're all happy with what they got. And the simple need to clean my house (which I have yet to complete) has kept me farther from the blogs than when I first began. Nonetheless, I'll be chewing into it come Jan 1 with something new. I'd have included a pic of me, but I'm no good at holding the damned camera.

Now, on to the end of the year:

Politically, this year has sucked an ass for conservatism. The GOP has lost the White House. The congress has become nearly completely controlled by Democrats. Most horribly of all, the GOP has utterly failed the conservative movement, from nominating Asshat of the Year John (Democrat) McCain to the near complete embrace of big-government socialism by George W Bush. But, in the darkest hour, I have been seeking out those who want to fight for conservatism and not just empowering the GOP to butt surf us again. So there's hope. If it worked for Barry, it can work for us.

Personally, it has been a year of growth. Obviously this blog has grown since the beginning of the year (where my readership was confined to family and friends). Along the way, I have collected an assortment of blogger buddies across the ideological landscape. I've got two other blogs I neglect excessively, but will have to revisit on the days the Obama administration isn't extending the Bush legacy.

In my private life, I've achieved enough of a balance that I only have to deal with average chaos. From being financially better off than last year (what recession?), to custody of the kids (for my birthday, no less), things are looking up. Of course, between blogging, work, and the incessant demands of the younglings, I have to imagine what dating is, but there you go. At least I have the Internet.

Needless to say, it's been a year. Maybe next year will be even more interesting. But that's the subject of another post....

Dare I say, whacking and lightsaber should never be used in the same sentence.

Happy New Year.

Don't be frightened of 2009. We aren't heading off down the road to collectivism.

Cheers.

" We aren't heading off down the road to collectivism."

Yeah we are. But then...we have been for sometime.

I cannot see us heading down the road to collectivism as long as those in power believe that the future holds potential for personal gain....

Its only the bad or the losses that everyone wants to share...

Its because they create jobs that we have to share in their misfortune but once those jobs start creating wealth again then by God....it will be back to the old ways!

Christmas is now packed away and the house is clean...now the only part of my typical New Years left for me to celebrate is to be in bed by 10pm!
Happy New Years everyone!

Those are beautiful munchkins! I hope 2009 brings you all good things.

And that you'll come to love Barry.

Awww Patrick....your kids are adorable! Of course they are all cute when they are someone else's and you don't have to worry about being beheaded by a light sabre or a pink shoe? (I am guessing)

We will bring conservatism back even if it kills us, which it might just due. Have a Happy New Year and keep on keeping on. (Sorry for the Brady Bunch reminder) LOL

I certainly hope your joking here. The idea that "we have to share in their misfortune" because they create jobs is a canard. For every job that might be saved, take into consideration how many jobs are killed. Take into consideration the capital that might otherwise be spent to create a new piece of machinery, a new tool, a new engine.

Besides, I shudder to think I'm now forced to "save" jobs not for the sake of saving jobs per se but instead for political purposes.

Looks like you had some other people there that could have held the camera and taken your picture!

Looks like the kiddos had a ball, and they are indeed very cute.
